Packing Tips for a Destination Stay

I don’t know about you, but I have been finding great joy in the little things this week.

The sun rising over the River Lune, walks in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales Countryside and lunch with family at The Lunesdale Arms (which, by the way, does a mean Sunday lunch). Sometimes it’s nice to slow down and just ‘be’. I feel that’s why so many guests use Absoluxe Suites as a destination stay.

‘Destination relaxation’ if you will.

I’ve had some really lovely guest comments recently, and I enjoy being able to be a guide for guests, offering my recommendations on the surrounding area; things to see in Kirkby Lonsdale and even the best places to visit in the Lake District. This week, on the blog, I thought I would share my packing tips for a destination stay; have a read through and if you have any you think I should add then please do post them over on our Instagram or Facebook.

Let’s roll those clothes

Now, this may be something you already do… BUT so many people still don’t realise that if you roll your clothes you can fit more in your case AND they stay crease free for longer. Add footwear to the middle of the bag and rolled items around to protect them from getting squashed.

On arrival pop out anything you want to wear that night and hang it up in the bathroom so if there are any creases they will drop out with the steam from the bath or shower.

Don’t forget your comfies

Each suite has been designed as a place where you can relax and use the room as your destination. They are sumptuous and decadent and lend themselves to lazy mornings in bed and catching up on that novel you’ve been meaning to start. I always suggest that guests bring loungewear or their favourite comfy clothes so you can really feel at home during your stay. We provide fluffy robes for you to enjoy also.

Pack a light jacket

This is the North of England don’t forget, and while summertime is usually really beautiful, we do get a few rain showers. Pack a light jacket that you can throw on during a passing shower and which you can easily put into your bag when its passed. Not got anything suitable? There is a selection of gorgeous boutiques just a few meters from the suites that offer a range of options. Abrahams stock some fantastic brands, and Edge of the World is great for outdoor wear.

Bring two laundry bags

I like to use reusable fabric bags for this, you sometimes get these as a dust bag for handbags or shoes, but any fabric bag will do. There’s nothing worse than getting home from a relaxing weekend only to find you have to sort through your suitcase deciphering what you need to wash. Pack two little bags into your suitcase, one for lights and one for darks, and fill these up before you come home. Then when you return you simply need to put these in the wash!

Reusable’s make it easy

There are so many places in Kirkby Lonsdale to indulge in a delicious coffee, so don’t forget to pack your reusable coffee cup so you can bring your Cappuccino back to enjoy in the comfort of your suite. A reusable water bottle is also useful if you’re planning to get out and walk in the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.

Bring the things you’ve been meaning to do

…and no I don’t mean life admin! I mean the things you’ve been really meaning to do; things that bring you joy but that you never get around to doing. That book that’s been sat on your nightstand, that magazine you’ve been meaning to pick up, or a list of films you’ve meaning to see for ages. Our TVs are something a little special, and they have Netflix built in so you can indulge in all the things you’ve been meaning to watch.

Swimwear

With two of our suites being equipped with gorgeous hot tubs don’t forget to pack your swimwear. Soft white towels are provided, so you don’t need to think about them, but sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself to a piece of luxury swimwear that is for his or her eyes only. Destination room to hot tub and back to room makes the ideal couples getaway.

Of course, as always, we have a range of amenities that are there to make your stay fuss free, including Wi-Fi, Nespresso machine and beautiful products from The Bath House. You can always add on some extra indulgence to your Destination stay with our luxury packages, which means you barely need to leave your room.
